An upcoming roundtable discussion moderated by Dr. William Leeman, associate professor in the Department of History, will focus on President Donald Trump’s stated goal of creating a U.S. Space Force.

An independent branch of the armed forces, the proposed Space Force would coordinate military activities in space and ensure that America stays competitive against countries like Russia and China. Roundtable participants will discuss the future of the U.S. space program and the growing international rivalry over outer space.

“A New Space Race?” will be held at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30 in the O’Hare Academic Building, Room 242. Sponsored by the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy, roundtable discussions are open to Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. The Pell Center provides a free lunch.

As space is limited, those interested in attending should RSVP to (401) 341-2927 or pellcenter@salve.edu.
