Roundtable to explore Trump and the founding documents

President Donald Trump’s interpretations of the nation’s founding documents will be the subject of an upcoming roundtable discussion sponsored by the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy.

“In Trump We Trust?” will be held at 11:45 a.m. Monday, April 10 in the Miley Hall executive dining room.

American politics has powerful symbols, and this is especially true of our founding documents. Curiously, however, Trump has failed to mention the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence. What do we make of this development? Is Trump leading the Republican Party away from these patriotic symbols in favor of a brasher nationalism? Does this leave the more traditional patriotic themes to the Democrats?

Roundtable discussions are open to Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. The Pell Center provides a free lunch. As space is limited, those interested in attending should RSVP to (401) 341-2927 or pellcenter@salve.edu.
