Salve Regina’s annual Thanksgiving Feed a Friend Food Drive is now underway
All offices, departments, student organizations, sports teams, residence halls, classes and organizations, along with students or employees who want to form a team of their own, are invited to participate in the Center for Community Engagement and Service’s annual Thanksgiving Feed a Friend Food Drive.
It has been another challenging year for many families in need, and local food banks have seen an increase in attendance due to the ongoing pandemic. This makes it all the more important to help out families in need during Thanksgiving.
There are three ways to give. One is to purchase a gift cards. If participants choose the gift card option, they can purchase a gift card in any amount, but please make sure the gift card is for Walmart, Shaws or Stop & Shop.
Another way to give is to donate supplies like paper napkins, garbage bags, disposable tins, etc. The last way is to give traditional Thanksgiving foods or snacks. Suggested non-perishable items to buy could include:
- Stuffing mix
- Cranberry sauce
- Instant potatoes
- Canned juices, soups, meats, fruits and vegetables
- Evaporated milk
- Macaroni and cheese
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Muffin/brownie/cake mixes
- Hot/cold cereals
- Tomato sauces and products
Bags or gift cards should be delivered to Gerety Hall, Room 201, by noon on Thursday, Nov. 18.
