Scoria, Sousa earn ECAC honors
John Scorcia ’15 and Lucas Sousa ’16 have both received Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast weekly honors. Scorcia was named player of the week while Sousa was named rookie of the week.
Scorcia scored once and handed out three assists to help the Seahawks to a 1-0-1 week. He scored the game-tying goal against Johnson & Wales University before handing out his second assist on the game-winning goal in overtime. Scorcia added his third assist of the week as he sent Marc Biggs ’16 an assist on his goal late in the second period in Salve Regina’s 1-1 tie with Suffolk University.
Sousa handed out four assists in the Seahawks’ 7-6 overtime win against Johnson & Wales. His first two assists came on junior Chad Hollenshade’s two second-period goals. Sousa brought his assist tally to four in the game with helpers on the game-tying and game-winning goals. He is now sixth in the league in defenseman scoring and fifth in the league in freshmen scoring against conference opponents. Sousa is currently second on the team with 10 assists.
Salve Regina returns to the ice Wednesday, Feb. 6 when the Seahawks host Curry College in a key ECAC Northeast match up. The opening faceoff is set for 7:35 p.m. at Portsmouth Abbey.
