Salve Regina’s field hockey team will participate in the Susan G. Komen “Play 4 the Cure” campaign when the team hosts the University of New England at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Gaudet Field.

The Seahawks will wear reminder bands with the campaign slogan “Play 4 the Cure” inscribed on them, and there will be a pink ball used during game action. The field hockey team hopes to draw awareness to breast cancer and raise funds for breast cancer education through this special game.

Donations collected throughout the contest will benefit the Women and Infants oncology program, while donations from the post-game penalty stroke contest against the Seahawk goalkeepers will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The “Play 4 the Cure” movement was created by Mystx Field Hockey Club founder, director and head coach Tina Reinprecht, whose longtime desire was to create an indoor field hockey benefit tournament for breast cancer research.
