Social Work Club participating in NAMI Walk
The Social Work Club is inviting the Salve Regina community to support its team at the 11th annual National Alliance on Mental Illness Walk, scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at Roger Williams Park in Providence.
Started in 1983, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving services for those with mental illness. NAMI supports and advocates for those with mental illness, along with their family and friends, and also seeks to reduce discrimination and fight stigma through a variety of educational programs.
Tens of thousands of Americans are affected by mental disorders such as ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and the autism spectrum, but only a fraction receive treatment. For more information on the work that NAMI does, visit http://www.nami.org.
The Social Work Club invites students, faculty and staff to join its team for the walk and to support its fundraising goal. Click here to donate. For more information, email Social Work Club president Corinne Winter at corinne.winter@salve.edu.
