Second baseman Francesca Galeazzi ’18 was named player of the year and Kelsey Boarman ’17 was named pitcher of the year as the Commonwealth Coast Conference announced its all-conference teams and major award winners for softball. In addition, first-year head coach Jannelle Iaquinto was named coach of the year after guiding the team to the regular season title.

Boarman and Galeazzi were also named to the all-conference first team. Joining them are utility player Amanda Riley ’19 and outfielder Lexi Soucie ’17. Outfielder Lindsey Florent ’19 was named to the second team, while shortstop Nikki Bukovsky ’17, third baseman Elizabeth Lombardo ’19, designated player Kara O’Riley ’17 and catcher Emily Woznick ’19 were named to the third team.

Galeazzi batted a league-best .453 this season and stole 33 bases – 20 more than anyone else in the conference. Her 1.14 steals per game rank her fifth in all of Division III. Galeazzi also finished second in the conference with 48 hits and scored 32 runs, which was good for third in the conference.

Boarman was the ace of the Seahawks staff this season, making 20 appearances in the circle, including 15 starts. She logged a 2.02 ERA, which ranked her second in the conference, and picked up four shutouts. Boarman was especially strong in conference play, posting a 0.74 ERA. She also had 55 strikeouts and recorded a save.

Iaquinto led the Seahawks to a 22-11 overall (16-2 CCC) record and captured the regular season championship in her first season. The Seahawks led the league with a .341 team average, while slugging a conference-best .453. Over the 18-game conference schedule, the Seahawks posted a 1.60 ERA, which was more than half a run lower than the second place team.
