SRU Dance presenting “Can’t Hold Us” this weekend
SRU Dance, Salve Regina’s student-run dance organization, will present its fall performance, “Can’t Hold Us,” Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17 in the Rodgers Recreation Center.
This fall’s performance will include 26 dances in styles of tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern, Irish step and line dancing, and will feature a finale number showcasing the entire club. This semester, the club boasts 115 performers, who will dance to the music of Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Jessie J, Coldplay and more.
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission to Saturday’s performance is at least a $1 donation to the Andrea Rizzo Foundation, while admission to Sunday’s performance is $5. At both shows, children young enough to sit on an adult’s lap are admitted free.
A Salve Regina graduate, Andrea Rizzo was tragically killed by a drunk driver at age 24. The foundation established in her name raises money for children’s cancer research through dance therapy programs. The members of SRU Dance continue to support “Drea’s Dream” and help the foundation in any way they can.
