In honor of Meghan Strathman ’03, a women’s tennis player who died in a car accident in April 2003 – one month before her graduation – the 11th annualĀ Megs DoublesĀ tennis clinic for Newport-area youth will be held Sunday, April 6 at the Leroy Avenue tennis courts. Registration will begin at 12:45 p.m.

The event connects the two passions that Strathman held so dearly: tennis and children. Strathman had been a student teacher at the former Coggeshall School in Newport before her untimely death, and students from area schools have attended previous Megs Doubles clinics.

Participants should wear athletic clothing, including sneakers. Youth racquets will be available (courtesy of Walmart), although participants are welcome to bring their own.

Parents/guardians may download a registration form from the women’s tennis website. All participants will receive a T-shirt.
