The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance will present Kander and Ebb’s award-winning musical “Cabaret” at the Casino Theatre April 11-15. Directed by Tom Gleadow, performances will be given at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, with 2 p.m. matinees Saturday and Sunday.

“Cabaret” features some of the most memorable songs in musical theater history, including “Cabaret,” “Willkommen” and “Maybe This Time.” Framed by the decadently dilapidated Kit Kat Klub, it’s an escape from reality presided over by The Emcee.

The musical sets a complicated love story between struggling novelist Cliff Bradshaw and nightclub singer Sally Bowles against the rise of the Nazi Party in 1930s Berlin. The affair between Cliff and Sally is doomed from the beginning, but equally if not more heartbreaking is the romance that develops between landlord Fraulein Schneider and boarder Herr Schultz. It’s a quietly devastating example of the anti-Semitic hate that ruined so many innocent lives.

The cast includes Zachary Bailey ’20, Nina Beatrice ’21, Kenny Benell ’18, Jillian Brooks-Duval ’20, Abigail Burchard ’21, Lea Carpanzano ’18, Kathryn Coppa ’19, Julia Curtin ’20, Nathaniel Flachs ’18, Shannon Harrington ’18, Daniel Landino ’20, Madisyn Mugavero ’19, Erin O’Neill ’19, Morgan Salpietro ’19, Vanessa Sciolto ’19, Bradley Simpson ’18, Jennifer Sutherland ’18, Jillian Tereshka ’19 and Collin Travassos ’18.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors and military and $8 for Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. For ticket information or reservations, contact the box office at (401) 341-2250 or www.tinyurl.com/salvecasino.
