Jannelle Iaquinto has been named head softball coach at Salve Regina. She comes to the University from Marist College, where she worked with the pitchers and also coached first base.
“I am extremely excited to have someone as accomplished as Jannelle to lead the softball program,” said director of athletics Jody Mooradian. “She is a vibrant and qualified professional, with a strong background in pitching. She has played and coached at a very high level. She will be a great addition to Salve Regina University.”
In each of Iaquinto’s two seasons at Marist, a Red Fox had been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference pitcher of the year. Three pitchers also earned all-conference honors during her tenure.
In 2016, Iaquinto helped the Red Foxes achieve their best season in program history. Marist won a program-record 45 games, and captured both the MAAC regular-season and tournament championships.
Iaquinto came to Marist with a wealth of experience as a player and a coach. She has previously held coaching positions at Merrimack College, Suffolk University, Emerson College and Lesley University.
In her playing career, Iaquinto pitched for Siena College for three seasons. She closed out her high school career at Arlington Catholic as the school’s all-time leader in strikeouts, and was recognized on the Boston Globe’s all-league team and the Boston Herald’s all-scholastic team.
