Celebrating its 28th year, the Newport Winter Festival features more than 150 events and offers a unique experience combining food, festivities, music and fun for all ages. Salve Regina students are invited to take advantage of special discounts being offered throughout the festival, which will be held Feb. 12-21.
With a valid Salve Regina ID, students can purchase a Winter Festival button for only $7, a discount from the regular price of $10. The button provides discounted admission to all Winter Festival events and is available for purchase at several locations throughout Aquidneck Island.

Beatlemania
9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island, admission $12 with Salve ID
Relive the Beatles revolution with members from “The Cast of Beatlemania.” These four seasoned musicians capture the spirit, look and sound of the Beatles in 29 renditions that take us back to “Yesterday” and “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” to “Here Comes the Sun” and “Hey Jude.”
Chili Cook-Off
11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island, admission $7 with Salve ID
Winter heats up as area restaurants and caterers compete to see who has the best chili in town. Bring your appetite, sharpen your taste buds and join in the fun as you choose your favorite chili. A free trolley to the Hyatt will stop at the Gateway Center, Newport Harbor Hotel and the Red Parrot.
Changes in Latitudes
8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island, admission $12 with Salve ID
Changes in Latitudes is the country’s premier tribute show to the Mayor of Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffet. This nationally acclaimed band travels the country performing such classics as “Come Monday,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and the Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffet smash hit “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere.”
Walkin’ The Line
8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island, admission $12 with Salve ID
Boston’s premiere Top 40 country band brings years of experience opening for country legends like Charlie Daniels, Lorrie Morgan and Travis Tritt. With influences ranging from Miranda Lambert to Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean to Kip Moore, this band is sure to keep you dancing all night.
