Members of the Salve Regina community have always been generous in contributing their time and talents to those in need. In this time of giving, the University has embarked on its annual United Way/Fund for Community Progress campaign.

Employees can contribute to the United Way, the Fund for Community Progress or both through a one-time cash donation or payroll deduction. Payroll deductions will begin with the first pay period in January 2013.

United Way

Donations to the United Way will benefit the organization’s Community Impact Fund, which addresses current crises and affects long-term lasting changes that improve the quality of life for Rhode Islanders.

This year, the fund is focusing on:

  • Promoting high-quality out-of-school learning and early childhood education.
  • Promoting income stability among lower- to middle-income Rhode Islanders.
  • Working with others to develop 1,000 additional units of affordable rental and home ownership units.
  • Expanding access to information and referral for social services in Rhode Island and increasing the quality of the United Way’s 211 service.

Fund for Community Progress

The Fund for Community Progress is a collection of 26 grassroots organizations working throughout Rhode Island to extinguish poverty, hunger, illiteracy, violence and discrimination in our own communities.

This year, the fund is focusing on:

  • Preserving prescription assistance programs for the elderly.
  • Creating permanent affordable housing and fair housing laws.
  • Improving public schools and educational outcomes for youth.

All paperwork is due in the Office of Human Resources by Friday, Nov. 30. Employees who make a contribution will have their names entered into a drawing for one of three $25 gas cards.

For more information on either campaign, call (401) 341-2137.
