USS sponsoring spring break “social media bonanza”

User Support Services will sponsor a “social media bonanza” for faculty and staff throughout spring break.

The workshop series is designed to introduce participants to the different social media offerings that their students, children, family and friends may be using. All workshops will assume little or no experience in the different programs.

Facebook

11 a.m. to noon Monday, March 10 in the McKillop Library, Computer Lab 006

Facebook has become a worldwide virtual means of keeping in touch with family, friends, coworkers, clubs and more. It is a means of fast and efficient communication but also serves for fun leisure time, where anyone can log on to play Words with Friends or Candy Crush.

Instagram

1-2 p.m. Monday, March 10 in the McKillop Library, Computer Lab 006

Instagram gives you access to the visual lives of users. Photographers, fashion designers, celebrities and more post pictures from huge events to nature shots to family photos. Instagram gives you the chance to get artsy and make your life a canvas.

Twitter

11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 11 in the McKillop Library, Computer Lab 006

Want to know what is going on across the globe in fashion, politics or daily news? “Tweets” have changed the world. Access to the “Twittersphere” can change lives.

Pinterest

1-2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 in the McKillop Library, Computer Lab 006

Want to learn to do some arts and crafts? Learn how to decorate a cupcake for Halloween? Collect inspiration for a party theme? Pinterest is the place to be. Collecting photos that serve your everyday, creative needs can inspire and help fuel the desire for design.

Google+

11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 12 in the McKillop Library, Computer Lab 005

Learn about the social networking site brought to you by Google. It is the second largest social site behind Facebook and integrates with Gmail, YouTube and other services.

Snapchat

1-2 p.m. Thursday, March 13 in the McKillop Library, Computer Lab 006

Tired of texting? Need a new, exciting way to communicate with friends? Snapchat is a photo-messaging app that allows people with smartphones to use pictures and a little description to talk to each other. It is fun and easy to use.
