Warwick location sponsoring holiday food drive
Members of the Salve Regina community are invited to help those less fortunate during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons by supporting the Center for Adult Education’s annual food drive.
The food drive will benefit the Rhode Island Food Bank. Students, faculty and staff who frequent the Warwick site are asked to donate boxed and canned goods. All donations should be placed in the collection boxes in the reception area by Wednesday, Dec. 31.
Although all non-perishable items will be accepted, the most-needed items include tuna, canned and dried beans, brown rice, canned soups and stews, peanut butter, breakfast cereals, whole wheat pasta and canned fruits and vegetables.
The Rhode Island Food Bank moves nearly 200,000 pounds of food each week to agencies that directly serve Rhode Islanders in need. Last year, the food bank distributed 9.9 million pounds of food, feeding more than 68,000 people each month.
