Men’s basketball players Brenden Fowler ’16, John King ’15, Eric MacKinnon ’15 and Chris O’Keefe ’16 have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Honors Court.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
- Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2014-2015 academic year.
- Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
- Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
“I am extremely pleased that our upperclassmen have exhibited strong leadership in the classroom,” said head coach Sean Foster. “The NABC Honors Court recognition is a special benchmark for Brenden, John, Eric and Chris. They are achieving a high level of academic success at a very challenging institution, which bodes well for their future.”
The NABC also announced the third annual Team Academic Excellence Awards, which recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the 2014-2015 season. The Seahawks have earned this award the past two seasons.
“The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award is an outstanding honor and is the result of the dedication all of our players have put into their academic pursuits,” Foster said. “Our group has prioritized the mission of Salve Regina University within the community, on the court and in the classroom.”
