First-year students interested in learning more about the VIA program, which consists of six courses focusing on great ideas in history that inform the building of the “Good Life,” are invited to attend one of three upcoming information sessions.
Taken together, these courses provide a pathway (“via” in Latin) to graduation and a sound preparation for life in the 21st century.
Information sessions will be held at noon and 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24 and 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 in the Miley Hall executive dining room. VIA faculty and former students will be on hand to discuss the program’s unique learning community experience and answer questions. Raffles for $25 gift certificates will be held at all sessions.
Working collaboratively with professors, students in the VIA program take one course together each semester beginning in the fall of the sophomore year and continuing until graduation. All VIA courses fulfill Core Curriculum requirements.
Students apply for the VIA program in the fall of their first year, and up to 25 students are selected as VIA scholars for their remaining three years at the University.
