Faculty, staff and graduate students are encouraged to attend any or all of the dissertation proposal and defense presentations scheduled this semester. In addition, any undergraduate students who may be considering the pursuit of a Ph.D. are welcome to attend.
All presentations will be held in the McKillop Library special collections room.

- Laura Macaluso will defend her dissertation at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 4. The dissertation is titled “Art for the Elm City: Public Art in New Haven, Connecticut.”
- Paul Povlock will defend his dissertation at 3 p.m. Friday, March 4. The dissertation is titled “Environmental Ethics and the Electric Power Grid: A Case for Technological Momentum.”
- Cynthia Cykert will present her dissertation proposal at 4 p.m. Monday, March 7. The proposal is titled “The Political, Technological and Common Personal Factors that Allowed the Rise of Three Significant Women.”
- Ali Al-Abri will present his dissertation proposal at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 29. The proposal is titled “Security Challenges to Oman’s Religious Tolerance and Balanced Foreign Policy: The Nexus Among Religion, Foreign Affairs and Security Investigated.”
- Mary Keator will defend her dissertation at 1 p.m. Friday, April 8. The dissertation is titled “Re-appropriating the Ancient Monastic Practice of Lectio Divina: A Contemplative Pedagogical Method of Inquiry to Experience Wisdom Embedded in the Humanities.”
- Kirsti Svendsen will defend her dissertation at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 15. The dissertation is titled “Relationships Between Measures of Human/Moral Development, Happiness and the Technology Driven, Centralized Way of Being.”
